Island Health has issued this Request for Proposals for the purpose of inviting proposals from consultant firms to undertake services and construction as outlined in this RFP for the Project as described in the RFP documents.

This Request for Proposal (RFP) is for:

• Mechanical Engineering Firms as Prime Consultant

Tofino General Hospital, located at 261 Neill St, Tofino, BC is a 1,700 square meter facility with 10 acute medical in-patient beds. The facility includes an Emergency Department, Medical Imaging, Laboratory Services, Outpatient Ambulatory Care and Rehabilitation Services. The HVAC system consists of 4 main rooftop air handling units with constant volume reheat coils and perimeter radiant heating. This air handling equipment is over 20 years old and has surpassed the expected service life. The scope of this project is to replace the four (4) main air handling units (AHU-1, HRU-1, HRU-2, and HRU-3) at Tofino General Hospital. The addition of air tempering for the air handling equipment will also be investigated as an option during replacement to address potential overheating issues where feasible within the limits of the existing infrastructure. Replacement of other AHUs, exhaust fans, coils, terminal, equipment, etc. is outside the scope of this project.
